Bisulfite sequencing of the Pgc-1α promoter was used to determine DNA methylation levels at the −260 nt. The original (top line) and bisulfite converted (corresponding bottom line) sequences are shown in (a). The bold and underlined region within the bisulfite converted sequence indicates where the pyrosequencing primer is located. The red highlighted, bold, and underlined region is the regulatory −260 nt that undergoes DNA methylation.
