Stroke Status Evoked Adhesion Molecule Genetic Alterations in Astrocytes Isolated from Stroke-Prone Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats and the Apigenin Inhibition of Their Expression

The effects of apigenin and resveratrol on TNF-$\alpha$-induced expression of ICAM-1, MCP-1, and VCAM-1 in astrocytes isolated from SHRSP/IZM. Dose response: the astrocytes isolated from SHRSP/IZM were washed with FBS-free DMEM, replaced with DMEM containing TNF-$\alpha$ (10 ng/mL), and supplemented with 0, 10, 30, or 50 $\mu$M of apigenin (a) or resveratrol (b). They were then incubated for 4 hours. The ICAM-1, MCP-1, and VCAM-1 mRNA measurements were carried out as described in Figure 1 and in the text. The bars represent the mean ± SD (n = 4).
