Role of Bone Marrow-Derived Monocytes/Macrophages in the Repair of Mucosal Damage Caused by Irradiation and/or Anticancer Drugs in Colitis Model

Figure 1

Total body irradiation (TBI) as a radiation therapy (RT) induced leukocytopenia and thrombocytopenia. Twenty-five mice were divided into 5 groups, and each group was irradiated by a dose of 4 Gy on day 0. Mice were sacrificed, and white blood cells (WBC) were counted using a semiautomated hematology analyzer F-820 (Sysmex) on day 1, 5, 10, 14, and 20, respectively ( 𝑛 = 5 /each time point). (a) WBC number decreased after TBI, and the low value continued around day 5. (b) Platelets number also decreased, and the lowest number was observed around day 10. Values represent mean ± SEM. * 𝑃 < . 0 5 versus day 0. Data were analyzed using the Tukey method.
