Inhibition of Toll-Like Receptor 2-Mediated Interleukin-8 Production in Cystic Fibrosis Airway Epithelial Cells via the 𝛼7-Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor

Effect of TLR2 and TLR4 agonists on IL-8 production in CFTE29o- cells. Triplicate samples of CFTE29o- cells ($1\times {10}^5$/mL) were left untreated or treated with (a) 1–100 $\mu$g/mL zymosan, PTG and Pam₃, or PMA (50 ng/mL) in serum-free media for 24 hours, or (b) Pseudomonas LPS (10 $\mu$g/mL) or PMA (50 ng/mL) in medium supplemented with 1% FCS for 24 hours. Levels of IL-8 in supernatants were measured by ELISA and values are expressed in pg/mL (${}^{*}P\le .05$ versus control) $(n=7)$.
