Inhibition of Toll-Like Receptor 2-Mediated Interleukin-8 Production in Cystic Fibrosis Airway Epithelial Cells via the 7-Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor

Effect of TLR2 and TLR4 agonists on IL-8 production in CFTE29o- cells. Triplicate samples of CFTE29o- cells (1×105/mL) were left untreated or treated with (a) 1–100 μg/mL zymosan, PTG and Pam3, or PMA (50 ng/mL) in serum-free media for 24 hours, or (b) Pseudomonas LPS (10 μg/mL) or PMA (50 ng/mL) in medium supplemented with 1% FCS for 24 hours. Levels of IL-8 in supernatants were measured by ELISA and values are expressed in pg/mL (*P.05 versus control) (n=7).
