Nicotine inhibits Pam3-induced IL-8 production in a dose-dependent manner. CFTE29o- cells (/mL) were left untreated or stimulated with increasing doses of nicotine (0–50 M) for 1 hour then left untreated or stimulated with Pam3 (1 g/mL, 24 hours) as indicated. Levels of IL-8 in supernatants were measured by ELISA and values are expressed in pg/mL (* and , * versus control, versus Pam3). Assays were performed in triplicate .
