Effects of synovial fluid and TNFα on spontaneous apoptosis of RA fibroblast-like synovial cells. RA synovial fibroblasts were cultured in the presence of TNFα (25 ng/mL), three SF pools (1 : 8 dilution in culture medium), or medium alone. Apoptosis was evaluated at the indicated times. Cells were stained with annexin V-FITC and propidium iodide and analysed by flow cytometry. Apoptotic cells were measured as the percentage of annexin V-positive/PI-positive cells. Results are expressed as the mean percentage ± SD from four individual experiments. versus FLS; versus FLS + TNFα.
