It is very interesting to observe that after 7 days, all RA FLS exposed chronically to SF respond to ATP exposure. When the experiment is replicated in the absence of extracellular calcium, the functional response is completely abolished. This suggests that the ATP mediated response of FLS is due to P2X and not P2Y receptor.
