Protein Phosphatase 2A Mediates Oxidative Stress Induced Apoptosis in Osteoblasts

Oxidative stress activates apoptotic pathways and inflammatory reactions in osteoblasts. ((a)-(b)) Western blots results showed that apoptotic proteins cleaved-caspase-3 was induced by 4-HNE treatment. The proapoptotic protein Bax was also increased and antiapoptotic protein BcL-2 decreased. ((c)-(d)) Real-time PCR results suggest that transcription levels of IL-1β and TNF-α, osteoblastic inflammation genes, were upregulated by 4-HNE treatment.
