Platelet-Released Growth Factors Induce Differentiation of Primary Keratinocytes

PRGF from different donors influenced gene expression of differentiation markers in a similar manner. Analyzing the capacity of PRGF from 14 different donors (PRGF number 1–PRGF number 14), we observed a strong and interindividually different effect of the used PRGF on the expression of keratin 1, keratin 10, transglutaminase-1, and involucrin in primary keratinocytes (a, c, e, g). The mean values of all 14 PRGFs analyzed (b, d, f, h) revealed a significant influence of the PRGF treatment on the gene expression of the analyzed differentiation markers in primary human keratinocytes (real-time PCR analysis, , , , Student’s t-test).
