Platelet-Released Growth Factors Induce Differentiation of Primary Keratinocytes

The IL-6 receptor is not involved in the PRGF-mediated modulation of differentiation markers in keratinocytes. PRGF stimulation of primary human keratinocytes caused a reduced keratin 1 and keratin 10 gene expression and an induced transglutaminase-1 and involucrin gene expression. Costimulation with the IL-6 receptor-blocking antibody tocilizumab revealed that these effects were not mediated via the IL-6 receptor (real-time PCR analysis, , , , ns = not significant, one-way ANOVA with Tukey’s multiple comparison test).
