Anti-Inflammatory and Neuroprotective Role of Natural Product Securinine in Activated Glial Cells: Implications for Parkinson’s Disease

Securinine reduces LPS-induced MAPK phosphorylation in BV2 microglial cells. BV2 cells were pretreated with securinine (10 μM) for 1 h and then exposed to LPS (500 ng/mL) for 30 minutes. Whole cell lysates (50 μg of protein) were subjected to Western blot analysis using antibodies specific for phosphorylated forms of p38MAPK, ERK1/2, and JNK (mean ± SE, ). Equal loadings of cell lysates were confirmed by reprobing the blots with total p38MAPK, ERK1/2, and JNK antibodies. The quantification data are shown in the right panel. versus control; versus LPS.
