Sex-Associated Differential mRNA Expression of Cytokines and Its Regulation by Sex Steroids in Different Brain Regions in a <i>Plasmodium berghei</i> ANKA Model of Cerebral Malaria

<div>Effect of gonadectomy on serum nitric oxide levels in <i>Plasmodium berghei</i> ANKA-infected mice. Gonadectomized (GX) or intact female and male mice were infected with <i>P. berghei</i> ANKA and sacrificed 9 days postinfection. Their blood was collected to separate serum, which was used to quantify nitric oxide concentrations using the Griess reaction.
