Serotonin Exhibits Accelerated Bleomycin-Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis through TPH1 Knockout Mouse Experiments

Figure 2

Histological examination of the effect of 5-HT on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis. Intratracheal instillation of bleomycin (BLM) hydrochloride was performed to induce pulmonary fibrosis in wild-type C57BL/6 (WT) and TPH1 knockout (KO) mice. The mice in the WT BLM and KO BLM groups were sacrificed on days 7, 14, and 21, and histological examination was performed by (a) H&E staining and (c) Sirius staining. The (b) inflammatory score and (d) fibrotic score were calculated to determine the severity of inflammation and fibrosis. All data were expressed as , . and versus the WT BLM group.
