Sodium Butyrate Protects N2a Cells against Aβ Toxicity In Vitro

NaB attenuates Aβ toxicity and maintains mitochondrial respiratory function in N2a cells. Effect of 2 mM NaB pretreatment on ROS challenged by 40 μM Aβ25-35 for 24 hours. Cells were starved for 4 h and then pretreated with 2 mM NaB for 2 h before Aβ25-35 was added. The ROS was assessed by a ROS assay kit (, , Student’s -test, , and ). When the concentration of Aβ is 40 μM, it had led to increased ROS in N2a cells. After pretreatment with 2 mM NaB, ROS was reduced to normal levels.
