The Mast Cell Is an Early Activator of Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Neuroinflammation and Blood-Brain Barrier Dysfunction in the Hippocampus

<div>Cytokine changes after LPS treatment in the hippocampi of WT and Kit<sup>W-sh/W-sh</sup> mice. Levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-<i>α</i>) (a), interleukin 1 beta (IL-1<i>β</i>) (b), IL-6 (c), IL-4 (d), and IL-5 (e) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
