Caspase-1 deletion abolishes VILI and cytokine release in mice. (a) The flow cytometry showed caspase-1 deletion abolished death cells in alveolar macrophage. The protein level of GSDMD including full-length and cleaved forms (b) and mature IL-1β (c) in alveolar macrophages was significantly decreased after caspase-1 knockout. Caspase-1 deletion attenuated pyroptosis-related cytokines in BALF of high VT, including IL-1β (d) and HMGB-1 (e).
