Association between Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Profile and Bronchial Inflammation in Bronchiolitis Obliterans

<div>Cellular LCPUFA concentrations in blood cells. LCPUFA analysis of (a) alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), (b) eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), (c) docosapentaenoic acid (<i>n</i>–3 DPA), (d) docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), (e) linoleic acid (LA), (f) arachidonic acid (AA), and (g) dihomogammalinolenic acid (DGLA) was determined from the cell pellet of the sputum derived from BO patients (<i>n</i> = 19) and healthy controls (<i>n</i> = 12) by capillary gas chromatography. In addition, (h) the ratio between AA and DHA (AA : DHA), which provides an estimation for omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acid distribution, was calculated. <span class="nowrap"><svg height="13.532pt"
