Comparison of MHC regions on chromosome 6 in humans and chromosome 17 in mice. The classical MHC class Ia genes (red), which include HLA-A, HLA-B, and HLA-C in humans and H2-K, H2-D, H2-L, and H2-B in mice, are much more polymorphic than the nonclassical, MHC class Ib genes (orange).
