The effect of CDCs on capillary density. The upper panel represents images of capillary vessels stained with von Willebrand in ischemic myocardium. vWF positive cells were localized with capillary vessels as shown in green. DAPI nuclei are in blue. The lower graphs summarize the number of vWF positive capillaries (number per mm²). CDCs increased capillary density indicating angiogenesis. These data indicate that CDCs increased angiogenesis as well as myocyte regeneration in swine with ischemic cardiomyopathy.
