Medications for Hypertension Change the Secretome Profile from Marrow Stromal Cells and Peripheral Blood Monocytes

Antihypertensive medications alter the secretome of monocytes from healthy controls and stroke patients after 24 hours of exposure. Atenolol (a–d) increased IL-1RA and TNF-α secretions from stroke patient-derived monocytes but reduced the IL-1RA and MCP-1 secretions from health control monocytes. Captopril (e–h) increased IL-1RA secretions from stroke patient-derived monocytes but increased IL-8 secretions from both healthy control and stroke monocytes. Losartan (i–l) did not alter cytokine secretions from stroke patient-derived monocytes but reduced MCP-1 secretions from healthy control monocytes. Significance is shown by .
