High-Fat Diet Increases Bone Loss by Inducing Ferroptosis in Osteoblasts
Figure 1
In this experiment, it was found that feeding mice a high-fat diet reduced bone mass production and that intraperitoneal administration of the ferroptosis inhibitor Ferrostatin-1 to mice fed a high-fat diet significantly reduced the bone mass loss in mice fed a high-fat diet. Representative micro-CT images of the distal femur of mice fed a normal diet, a high-fat diet, and a high-fat diet plus a ferroptosis inhibitor for 12 weeks (a). The femoral microstructure of mice was then quantified in terms of trabecular volume fraction (BV/TV) (b), trabecular number (Tb.N) (c), trabecular thickness (Tb.Sp) (d), and trabecular separation (Tb.Th) (e). , , , .
