High-Fat Diet Increases Bone Loss by Inducing Ferroptosis in Osteoblasts

Mc3t3-E1 cells were used as cells for the in vitro study. Mc3t3-E1 cells were treated with high-fat medium for 24 hours, and Fer-1 at a concentration of 5 μmol/l was used to slow down the process of ferroptosis. 24 hours later, changes in the key ferroptosis proteins Gpx4 and Slc7a11 were measured (a, b), while there was also a significant decrease in cell proliferation capacity (c), a process that could be rescued by ferroptosis inhibitors.
